Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare for improvement event
  • Engage team members in improvement event
  • Identify process or processes to be targeted in improvement event
  • Assist team members to identify how their own roles contribute to value to customer
  • Assist team to identify boundaries of event, including any imposed exclusions
  • Identify key process indicators, or key performance indicators, and other information required for improvement event
  • Identify skill needs for personnel engaged in breakthrough improvement event and arrange for required training
  • Establish communication processes with sponsor and stakeholders
  • Assist team to review current processes, operations or products/services and identify options for radical improvements
  • Facilitate team to evaluate options and agree on improvements to be made
  • Encourage and assist team to plan activities and identify metrics to be monitored
  • Facilitate allocation of resources and strategies to manage impact on routine work
  • Assist team to gather baseline data on selected metrics
  • Assist team to identify and address barriers to making improvements
  • Monitor team dynamics and facilitate team focus and cooperation
  • Liaise with sponsor to communicate progress and maintain their support
  • Assist team to gather and interpret data on metrics
  • Facilitate team activities to evaluate outcomes of the event
  • Identify causes for areas of poor performance from changes and identify changes to address them

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
